The town hall extension, which was occupied a year ago, is finally being used for catering in a second attempt. The ground floor and the striking colonnade with ‘Rathauslaube’ on the Holstenstraße promenade will be revitalised by a restaurant from November. The signet of the brick building was created with a massive blind gable with a relief in the spirit of Nordic brick modernism. The relief echoes the motif of the filigree brick pilaster strips on the façade. The stone crown of the cubic extension interprets the gabled roof of the old building. The increased requirements for a sustainable, climate-efficient building were realised with natural ventilation, component activation for cooling and heating via heat pumps and a photovoltaic system.
