On 19 November, the two Hamburg-based offices of Winking - Froh Architekten and Arbos Freiraumplanung were delighted with the success of the competition, a first prize in Erfurt. The city of Erfurt is developing the outer eastern city into an inner city residential location. Winking - Froh Architekten are contributing a central element with their design for the Johannas Gärten quarter on the former slaughterhouse site on Greifswalder Straße. This offers the opportunity to build in the immediate vicinity of a Karl-Schneider block in the Hanseatic quarter. 16 international offices took part in the restricted competition. 432 subsidised and freely financed flats and an underground car park with 500 parking spaces will be built on four construction sites. Winking - Froh Architekten received the 1st prize for 3 subareas, a fourth inner area goes to Wiencke Architekten Dresden and Rabe Landschaften Hamburg.
