In the competition for one of the largest school building projects in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the design by Winking Froh Architekten was awarded 2nd prize at the end of June. With a four-storey and differentiated ensemble of individual building blocks, the different departments and the sports hall of the education centre are expressed structurally. At the same time, a compact and identity-forming school campus for a total of 1,350 pupils is being created as a whole. Thanks to a clear urban setting and the positioning of the individual volumes, the education centre is naturally linked to the overarching neighbourhood axis in the west and to the tram stop in the east. The jury praised the design ‘in its complexity, from the urban integration to the conception of the spatial and functional programme, as a very good and valuable contribution to the new construction of the vocational training centre.
