The town hall extension, which was occupied a year ago, is finally being used for catering in a second attempt. The ground floor and the striking colonnade with ‘Rathauslaube’ on the Holstenstraße promenade will be revitalised by a restaurant from November. The signet of the brick building was created with a massive blind gable with a relief in the spirit of Nordic brick modernism. The relief echoes the motif of the filigree brick pilaster strips on the façade. The stone crown of the cubic extension interprets the gabled roof of the old building. The increased requirements for a sustainable, climate-efficient building were realised with natural ventilation, component activation for cooling and heating via heat pumps and a photovoltaic system.

An important milestone has been reached with the laying of the foundation stone at Alter Wall 40 for what is currently the largest construction project in Hamburg's city centre. The reorganisation of the former postal giro office and later Sofitel is based on the compact historical development with individual buildings and courtyards lined up on the street and street side. The existing tower block will be integrated into the new concept and will also be used as a hotel in the future. A glass crown with restaurant, sky bar and terrace will create a new Hamburg highlight with the best view of the Alster and Elbe. There are also two modern office blocks and a residential building with 84 flats. Shops and restaurants on the ground floors will turn Alter Wall back into an attractive promenade, as it once was.

The approximately 8,800 square metre Europaplatz was opened in mid-September. The square connects the new Bahnstadt district with Heidelberg's main railway station. Around the square, five buildings were constructed to environmentally friendly passive house standards, a two-storey underground car park and a bridge. It is flanked by the Atlantic Hotel Heidelberg tower block, the so-called Stadtloggia with the Heidelberger Sparkasse savings bank and the Springer publishing house as well as a new building for the Volksbank Heidelberg. Over 100 rental flats were built in a further building block to the west. The design for the neighbourhood is the result of a competition won by Winking - Froh in 2017.
